What is it?
Glassdoor.com is a great website that allows you to get reviews or salaries from other companies.
It is a free service, however, you do have to submit a job review and post a salary in order to see others.
A simple give and get strategy. It is important to know that you do remain anonymous.
"Glassdoor.com is the only site that provides a complete, real-time, inside look at what it's really like to work at a company- ratings, reviews, confidence in senior leadership and salaries - for free." ~Glassdoor.com
How it works?
There are really two simple steps to get access to the data.
- You provide a review for a current or former employer and,
- You then login to the site and access is granted.
Note that you are required to provide a certain length for the reviews in order for it to be considered meaningful and useful for the community.
It is a really simple service, and if you would like more information, I highly recommend checking out this site.

What's cool about it?
- If you are interested in the corporate culture of a company, you can see what various people have said about their respective positions or of management of the company. I think this is very important today and very useful. You ultimately want to be happy where you work and want to be in a place that suits your personality.
- The CEOs of companies are also rated on a point scale. This is subjective, but you can get a general idea of what employees collectively view their leaders.
- You can see company reviews by industry or look at most popular company reviews.
- You can compare salaries of a particular job in various cities in case you were considering relocating.
My Synopsis
This site will be a useful resource for many and can be used by anyone. It will be a useful research tool for college students looking to start new careers, or to current employees seeking other job opportunities. Employers may also find it useful as they can get a sense of what employers think of their company's culture and leadership. I have been using this site for a few months now and I see the benefits of it. Just another useful tool to bookmark I think. Try it out and tell me what you think.
